Collis History

Fred F. Collis & Sons was founded in 1936 by Fred F. Collis, right in his backyard on Elm Street in Utica, New York. At this time, Fred offered oil delivery and furnace/pop heater repairs to the community. Fast Forward to today, our company has grown to offer an expansive list of home comfort services, such as heating, air conditioning, indoor air quality, insulation, and more. We are proud to be a 3rd generation, family-owned and operated business. It has been our pleasure to serve our community since 1936. Each and every member of our team is committed to providing outstanding service, and that’s what we call the Collis difference!

1936

January 1

1936: Fred F. Collis & Sons was founded!

Starting right here in Utica, New York offering oil delivery and furnace repairs. Pictured here is founder Fred F. Collis & Sons and his wife, Isabel. His wife also played a significant role in the company, such as managing the bookkeeping.

1940

January 1

1940’s: This is one of the first Collis trucks back when we began offering oil delivery services and furnace / pop heater repairs.

1960

1960’s: Founder Fred F. Collis & Sons is pictured with two of his sons, Jim and John, and his grandson. Jim and John are still actively involved in running the business today.

1972

July 1

Fred F Collis sets up shop on Oswego Street in Utica

1972: Fred F. Collis & Sons expands from the backyard on Elm Street and sets up shop on Oswego Street in Utica, New York. This is when the business really began to expand and grow – offering more services than before.

1996

July 1

Fred F Collis moves to Commercial Drive in Yorkville, NY

Mohawk Valley Heating and Cooling Contractor

1996: The company moves to Commercial Drive in Yorkville, New York! This is where we are located still to this day and offer the many home comfort services that you know and trust.

2002

July 1

New office on Erie Boulevard in Rome, New York

2002: Fred F. Collis & Sons adds an additional office on Erie Boulevard in Rome, New York, to expand our service area and take care of more area residents!

2021

June 30

Fred F. Collis & Sons expands their service area once again!

2021: Fred F. Collis & Sons expands their service area once again with a brand new office added in Syracuse, New York.
